Modern masterpiece in the jungle overlooking the pristine Osa Peninsula, and Pacific Ocean. Casa Mecano is a work of art and technical design beauty that combines the beauty of nature and high quality state of the art German engineered excellence. Designed by award winning architect Juan Robles of Robles Arquitectos, Casa Mecano has been featured in multiple publications.

Inside its own private gated compound on 3 acres of manicured garden, there are many fruit bearing plants giving you the feel that this is your own modern Garden of Eden. The spacious home, with views across the Corcovado National Park and the San Buenas Golf Course, is positioned at 720 ft above sea level and facing South the ocean breeze consistently blows keeping the air fresh and cool.

Casa Mecano is a body composed of a structure, a skin and a mechanism to adapt to their environment. The floor to ceiling windows take in the sun and the views, but makes use of a large overhanging roof to protect the interior from direct sunlight. In the early mornings and the evening when the sun hits low on the horizon, direct sunlight can shoot right into the home. To minimize this effect, Robles designed a moveable shade that pivots to block that light when needed. In addition, the home makes use of a solar thermal system on the roof and harvests and collects rainwater during the rainy season for irrigation. Windows and doors slide open to enjoy the sea breezes and natural ventilation as a way to adapt to the environment.

Their goal was to integrate environmentally friendly practices during construction but also into the design of the home. They kept the footprint to a minimum with a scaled back design and the use of a modular steel structural system, which reduced the need for materials and the debris that they left behind.
